Do you use frameworks like K2 and Zoo?

| More

For a very long time I avoided using frameworks. Not sure what was stopping me. Possibly the fear of the unknown and the inevitable learning curve but like anything else I just could not sit on the sidelines watching new technology go by without giving it a serious try so I did some research first and decided to try K2.

I started using K2 in Beta 1 and was pleasantly surprised by the possibilities. You could definitely have a blog going in minutes without a lot of effort or too many settings scattered all over the place. K2 is currently stable and I have used it as the framework for my own site.

My only concern at this point is the integration with other extensions. Some extensions that have some sort of embeded ACL will not work with K2 content as any content created strictly in K2 is stored in a different table than com_content which means that many extensions don't "see" that content at all.

I believe that with time all these kinks will be ironed out so I am sticking with K2 for now and getting a second install with another framework still to be decided to compare the ease of installation, configuration, styling as well as overriding of the many modules.

So far K2 was a breeze to override. Lots to learn still ahead but with the help of the K2 community I am hoping to breeze through that too.

I will be posting about my findings here so keep an eye out for it.
